Lauren Merino Wool Snood

Lauren Merino Wool Snood

I am pleased to introduce my snoods made from the millwoven blanket fabric. In a bid to reduce waste they are made from the same fabric as my blankets and were designed to minimise fabric waste. They are superb in this windy weather. The snoods are structural and cosy, and I have been loving hiding behind mine.

All of the textiles are designed and sampled on a handloom in my North London home. The fabric is woven in Bristol by a micro mill with only a small amount produced in each colour.

My travels around the UK coastline inspired the Coastal Collection. From the shapes and colours of the beach huts at Whitstable to the textures of the pebbles found on St Ives beaches, the shapes and subtle layers of colour never fail to inspire me.

I have named all my mill woven product after inspirational women. This colourway has been named Lauren in honour of the broadcaster, Lauren Laverne.

I have been listening to Lauren's morning show on BBC 6 Music since I fought the radio wars in my last job. In an open plan office, it is always a tricky balance to keep everybody happy with the music choices. I used to sneak in early in the morning to make sure the radio was playing 6 Music and hope that nobody noticed before Lauren had finished her show.

More recently as a creative startup and working on my own in the studio, I have relied on her chat and music choices to keep me motivated. As a Glastonbury festival attendee who in recent years has been unable to go due to small children, I usually spend the Glastonbury weekend tucked up on the sofa enjoying the coverage and backstage chit chat to help me feel connected to my happy place.
